November is Homelessness Month
As mid-November nears, families across the region, and nation, begin turning their attention to plans for Thanksgiving and the Christmas Season. The holidays are a time to rejoice and count our blessings. Not all of us however share in the bounty we take for granted. The daily challenges to survive for some, and the quest of others to achieve the freedom of independent living take no holiday for homeless populations. And now in an extremely difficult economy, homelessness has reached epic proportions.
The problem seemingly has no end despite an enormous commitment of human and financial resources. Joseph's Home is on the front lines. We have positioned ourselves to be an integral element of the compact of professional services offered in the region to attack the epidemic. Our tack is to end chronic homelessness one life at a time. It is gratifying to witness the success of this approach.
The month of November puts the spotlight on the issue of homelessness. As you gather with friends and family for Thanksgiving, offer a prayer in support of men, women and children who find themselves without a place to call home nor the means or hope to readily change their situation. Also give thanks to the soul saving work of Joseph's Home, and demonstrate your gratitude by committing yourself to do something of value to aid in our mission now or in the future.
Thank you to all who continue support Joseph's Home. May the New Year bless you and your family with peace, prosperity and abundant good health.
